The short answer
1-800-GOT-JUNK is a long-established national franchise brand. Their model prices by how much room your stuff takes up in the truck, and the number is given to you on site, by the crew, after they have arrived and looked at the pile.
Our model publishes the price up front. A sofa is $126. A queen mattress is $103. A refrigerator is $164. A quarter truck is $241, a half is $431, a full is $732. You see those before you book, and that is the number on the invoice.
Both get the junk gone. The thing worth thinking about, especially in a county this size, is what the estimate step costs you.
The two pricing models, plainly
On-site volume quoting. A crew comes out in a window, sees the items, and prices by the fraction of the truck they will fill. You decide yes or no with the truck in your driveway. It is a perfectly legitimate way to run a junk business and it handles weird piles well, because a human eyeballs it. The trade is that you commit your morning before you know the number.
Published flat pricing. Every common item has a price on the site. You build the list, you see the total, you book the window. No estimate visit, because the estimating already happened when the catalogue was written. The trade is that genuinely unusual loads still need a photo so we price them properly rather than guess.
We run the second model. We also publish the volume ladder, so if your pile is not a tidy item list you can still self-serve.
Why the estimate visit costs more in Jacksonville than elsewhere
Duval County is roughly 875 square miles. An estimate window in a compact city is an inconvenience. Here it is a logistics event for both sides.
If you live in Oceanway, or Baldwin, or out past Argyle Forest, or across the Intracoastal in Jacksonville Beach, the crew coming to look at your patio furniture has already burned an hour of driving before they say a number. What is inside the price
The number includes all of this:
- The carry-out. From a second-floor bedroom in a Bartram Park two-story, from a Riverside attic through the pull-down stairs, from a shed at the back of a deep Westside lot.
- The stairs. No stair fee. Beach duplexes with exterior stairs, Springfield walk-ups, Southbank buildings with a service elevator - same price.
- The disposal. No gate fee arriving separately.
- The labor. Two people, their truck, their straps, their dollies.
There is no same-day surcharge and no long-driveway fee. Jacksonville has a lot of long driveways and we do not bill them.
Where each model genuinely fits
On-site quoting fits when you truly cannot describe the pile - a 40-year accumulation in a Lakewood garage where nobody has been able to walk to the back wall, or a mixed construction-and-household mess after a renovation.
Published flat pricing fits the overwhelming majority of Jacksonville jobs, which are honestly quite describable: a couch, a mattress set, a fridge, a lanai full of sun-wrecked patio furniture, a garage of hurricane-season leftovers. If you can name the items, you can price them yourself right now.
And when your pile is halfway between the two, send photos. We price from photos and text rather than sending someone to look and then talk.
How to check us
Do not take a comparison article's word for it - including this one. Do this instead:

- Get a quote from anyone else you are considering, and ask them specifically whether the number can change on site and under what conditions.
- Ask both sides whether disposal, stairs and carry distance are inside the number.

Do you need to come out and look before giving a price?
No. Prices are published per item and per truck fraction - sofa $126, quarter truck $241, half truck $431 - so you can price the job yourself. For unusual loads we price from photos rather than booking an estimate visit.
Can the price change once the crew arrives?
The price is set by what the items are and how many. If the list on the day matches the list you booked, the number matches too. Items you add on the day get added at their published price.
Is volume pricing or item pricing better for my job?
Add up your items, then compare to the ladder. If your list totals more than the next truck fraction, book the fraction. A sofa plus a loveseat is $126 + $119 = $245, so the quarter truck at $241 is the better booking.
Do you charge extra to come out to the beaches or the Northside?
No. There is no distance surcharge inside our Jacksonville service area, whether that is Atlantic Beach, Oceanway, Baldwin or Julington Creek.
What is the smallest job you will take?
The minimum is $75 per visit. One microwave at $30 would still bill the $75 minimum, so small pickups are usually worth bundling - add the office chair at $61 and the bag of clothes at $35 while the truck is there.
